Cancun, July (Galu Comunicación).- Geolife Swiss México company has advanced technology to neutralize the contamination and stinky odor that sargassum emanates in order face problems caused by the recurring presence of this seaweed in the beaches, states Alejandro Romero Herrera.
Herrera, CEO of the company, explained that the technology consists in a bacteria and specific enzymes mix that triggers the degradation of organic matter.
Among the projects that the company puts available to the hotel industry, governments and general population is one that fights contamination from the beaches that receive tons of sargassum and its consequences, some of them it´s usual umpleasant odor.
“We come to join the efforts being made with the issue of beach recovery.
We obviously know that some sargassum boats have been put on the sea and that this seaweed is taken to a sanitary landfill”, he said.
Besides, he pointed out that having this material in soil is a serious problem, since once the sargassum begins to degrade emits a fetid odor.
Also, the fluids it starts to generate can be accompanied with high levels of heavy metal contaminants.
In an interview for Radio Fórmula local morning news, Romero Herrera said that his proposal is to treat this sargassum with a specific complex of bacteria and enzymes to degradate of plant organic matter.
In a short time we will have good quality compost and will avoid the emanation of these liquids and contamination from the aquifer.
For us, when there is a process of degradation of organic matter and there is a bad odor, it represents an alert that this degradation is being attended in a messy way, he said.
According to him, the application of the product is directly on the sargassum, with a sprinkling system.
The result is the elimination of unpleasant odor in a matter of minutes.
“In the end, we are going to have very good quality compost that we will be able to use in agriculture, in green areas, gardens, golf fields.
What we are interested about is in not to generate additional expenses, but rather to create an investment in this material, and so, we apply the circular economy model”, he finally said.
