Cozumel, July (Galu Comunicación).– A group of 22 workers, part of the Cozumel Tryicicle Riders Union, see the demand for their services increased by up to 30 percent, with the increase in passengers traffic at this island’s tax dock, after months without receiving income due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a poll that Galu Comunicación made at that maritime terminal, consulted workers stated that they begin to generate income gradually after three months of sanitary contingency that caused the cancellation of cruises and the reduction of sea crossings between this island and Playa del Carmen City.

One of those workers, who identified himself as Feliciano Pech Ek, recognized that by the fact of being a senior citizen, he had to keep himself at home and take care of his health.

So he did with his trycicle, the one he uses to take people form one side to other of this island pedaling

That pause limited his funds, but was necessary if he wanted to keep his health and avoid risk of death in this pandemic.

However, the reactivation of the sector with the arrival of the called by Mexico´s president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, “New Normality”, coupled with his need to work, forced him to retake his activities.

So, he goes out again to work, but obeying sanitary measures, while waiting daily for the arrival of visitors who could require his services.

On his hand, the leader of this union, Apolinar Balam Tzuc, said that despite registering a little more movement in that dock, the demand for their services have not been the expected.

However, the few calls helps the workers to get some profit for the sustenance of their families.

Balam Tzuc admitted that few tourists bring merchandise or baggage excess, so the demand of their rides is in fact better than after the beginning of the pandemic, but much fewer prior to it´s arrival.
