Artisans from this Mayan area of José María Morelos municipality received training to open a new niche through the Mercado Libre internet platform, so they can be able to sell virtually their products faster all around the world.
The director of Economic Development in this municipality, Rita May Almada, explained that the use of this platform replaced the common way of shopping in stores, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
She said that this training seeks to put all these artisans into this new market and have additional opportunities to cope with the crisis that has affected them.
May Almada pointed out that this training was carried out by the State Secretary for Economic Development (SEDE), benefiting in a first course 12 artisans who from now on will be able to sell their products virtually, through “Mercado Libre”.
She also explained that other artisans from more rural Mayan communities will be able to receive the same training later, so all of them can gradually enter to this virtual market.
The oficial added that various artisans approached the direction she heads, after the start of the pandemic, to expose concerns and especially the crisis that some of them are going through due to their stagnant sales.
Now, she said, this training opens a new wide market for them to sell their products.
